WORCELL is now into its sixth year of business. Having sold our 10 000th piece of battery in January 2009 and established our ground as an e-commerce business, we recognise that its not purely by our efforts, and would like to express our gratitude to each one of you for your support and trust in our products. This year, WORCELL seeks to go beyond our vision of providing you with optimum goods and efficient service. We have chosen to re-align our focus and place environmental preservation as the company's top priority.

Through developments in office automation, WORCELL endeavours to reduce our carbon footprint - the measure of the impact of our activities on climate change. Capitalising on the available technology, we are striving towards reducing the amount of travelling by air and land transport by improving communications via voice conferencing over VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol). By investing in eco-friendly equipment such as LCD Monitors, reducing halving the size of our invoices to B5, and increasing electronic transfer to achieve zero faxes, we are striving to reduce wastage of energy and resources.

The simplest of our efforts would include controlling the lights, switching of the air-conditioning during lunch hour, recycling materials, and even wearing lighter clothes for work so that air-conditioning temperatures can be kept at comfortable temperature of 25°C. We are even looking into ways to optimise shipping and packing material, removing unnecessary fancy product packaging. WORCELL recognises our company's appraisal does not only depend on the quality of goods or services we offer, but also depends on the level of environmental consciousness of our company. We are convinced that environmental preservation is not just able recycling finished products, but it covers full product lifecycles – from manufacturing to disposal. For this year, our efforts are also geared towards recycling all used battery packs, ensuring proper disposal and recycling of its components. We have also embarked on battery refill technology, which will allow us to reuse the plastic casing of batteries, reducing wastage of resources.

As we embark on this journey for the year of 2009, you may feel that some of our efforts are small and even insignificant. Nonetheless, WORCELL strives to do our part in this area, however small a part we play. We believe that we should be among those who set the example who work towards reducing our carbon footprint, and hence protecting and preserving our environment, and we urge you to do the same. These simple steps that each and every one of us take will go a long way.
